Whiskey: A Must Have for Every Bar

Among the alcoholic drinks that have continued to be a favorite despite changing times is whiskey. Made from a special concoction of different grains, this drink has since been regarded to provide man with heat, thus it is known as the “water of life”.

There are different types of whiskey, although the drink hails its roots from the cellars of Irish monasteries. To whisky drinkers out there, it is best to know which is your favorite kind. Below are among the most popular types of whisky available in the market:

Scotch whiskey- probably the most popular kind of whiskey you can find, scotch whiskey are twice or thrice distilled in order to show great taste. Scotch whiskey is distilled and stored in an oak cask for a minimum three years and of course its taste goes with the age.

Irish whiskey- if you are looking for the kind that’s 100% barley, then you must go for Irish whisky. This type is made of 100% pure grain and is distilled also for a minimum of three years. Irish whiskey offers a spicy flavor because of the barley, especially when it’s unmalted. Malted barley meanwhile tastes sweeter.

Bourbon whiskey- Bourbon whisky meanwhile hails from America. Unlike Scotch and Irish whiskies, Bourbon whisky is made of 51% corn, added with rye, wheat or barley. Nothing else is mixed with the grains except for water, and is distilled to 160 proof, or 80% alcohol. One of the strongest alcoholic drinks ever fermented, Bourbon has been regarded as a distinct product of the United States.
